Those who are prescribed medication for their mental health needs are sometimes ashamed of taking their medication because of the fear of being judged by others. Psychiatric medication has developed a negative reputation in the United States, where the stigma never really goes away.
Dr. Upshaw among other health experts, was invited to talk about why people may feel uncomfortable being public about their prescription. He further discusses the possibility of discrimination in workplace, and fear of side effects, both inhibiting people from seeking help for their mental health.
