Timothy Wheaton

PMHNP

Tim is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over 18 years of experience in nursing and advanced psychiatric care. His clinical focus includes mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions, and treatment-resistant depression.

Tim approaches psychiatric care with a belief that healing is most effective when it honors the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Guided by faith and compassion, he values thoughtful, evidence-based care that considers biological, psychological, and lifestyle factors. Tim strives to create a respectful, collaborative space where patients feel supported, understood, and empowered in their treatment journey.

At NeuroSpa, Tim provides both medication management and interventional psychiatric treatments, including IV ketamine infusions and Spravato®. He believes in incorporating principles of functional psychiatry to address contributing biological, lifestyle, and psychosocial factors that impact mental health.

In addition to his clinical work, Tim serves as a university nursing professor teaching undergraduate psychiatric nursing, which continually informs and strengthens his practice. He values a collaborative, patient-centered approach and believes meaningful progress begins with trust, education, and meeting patients where they are. His goal is to help individuals understand their treatment options and support lasting improvement through thoughtful, evidence-based, and compassionate care.

Outside of clinical practice, his interests include functional psychiatry, swimming, cycling, spending time with family, and being outdoors—especially at the beach. Tim believes these pursuits help ground his work and reinforce the importance of balance, resilience, and connection in overall mental well-being.

FAQ's

I’ve already tried different treatments that didn’t work. Why should I try NeuroSpa?
NeuroSpa offers advanced, science-backed treatments like TMS and SPRAVATO that have shown success even when other treatments haven’t. These innovative therapies target areas of the brain linked to mood regulation, often providing relief for those who haven’t found success with traditional methods.
I’m worried about the cost and whether my insurance will cover treatment.
Our team can verify your insurance and help clarify your coverage options before you commit to anything. Many insurance plans cover NeuroSpa treatments, making this an accessible option for mental health care. You can verify your benefits by clicking the button below.
Is treatment time-consuming? I have a busy schedule.
Our treatments are designed with convenience in mind. For instance, TMS sessions typically last less than 20 minutes, and there’s no downtime afterward, so you can get back to your day quickly. We also offer flexible scheduling to fit into your routine.
What if I feel like my symptoms aren’t severe enough for treatment?
Mental health is important at every stage. You don’t have to wait until you’re at your lowest to seek support. If you’re experiencing any level of anxiety, depression, or mental fatigue, our therapies can help you regain balance and prevent symptoms from worsening.
